What are Data-Driven Workflows?

Data-driven workflows are a series of interconnected activities that dynamically orchestrates data between systems and users to produce high-quality golden records for business needs.

What Are Data Driven Workflows

Every high-performing organization streamlines its network of workflows to create and deliver value. Workflows for your critical assets should be managed similarly. xDM’s enhanced data-driven workflows leverages underlying metadata to dynamically route, assign and automate tasks in order or parallel to the system and user efficiently.

Workflows Accelerate Organizational Alignment

Deploy our data-driven workflows without disrupting core business activities while providing immediate efficiency gains, direct cost savings to rapidly achieve strategic objectives.

Immediate Operational Productivity

Rapidly deliver business value and enhance data operability by dismantling organizational silos, optimizing processes and fostering cross-functional collaboration to build the foundations of an enterprise data mesh.

Resounding Financial Impacts

Drastically reduce development costs and labor-intensive data operations with no-code workflow design and automations while realizing admin/overhead savings and revenue productivity with faster time to market.

Elevate Enterprise Agility

Synergistic collaboration across organizational units with optimized workflows drastically improves visibility, opportunity identification and decision-making to strategically adapt and effectively achieve shared objectives.

Workflow Builder ebook cover

With Semarchy’s newest and most robust platform enhancement, users will access a new module called “Workflow Builder” within the xDM suite.

Using Workflow Builder, designers can create rich, data-driven workflows that allow divergent paths depending on record data, user data, or workflow metadata.

Additionally, a modernized business user interface provides richer “My Tasks” views, providing an enriched view of all the user’s tasks and workflows in a single place. With these new capabilities, users can collaboratively design their future-first data foundation.

Notable Features for xDM 2023.1.0

Workflow Builder

Workflow Builder

New graphical interface available on the xDM platform for rapidly building data workflows with no-code. Easily customize triggers, actions, steps, transitions and routing with guided parameter setting using forms.

Benefit: Simplified building process enables stronger collaboration between architects, designers, and business users to rapidly deploy complex workflows drastically reduces technical overhead or debt.

Workflow Steps

Quickly add specific workflow steps in the builder with a single click. Intuitively drag and drop using the GUI to visualize the workflow and easily modify the necessary steps or transitions to support the specific business needs.

Benefit: Workflow steps are the main drivers enabling data management initiatives to meet specific business needs. Each step provides a foundational action for designers and data stewards to collaborate across the organization, facilitating the creation of a data mesh.

Workflow Steps
Data Driven Design

Data-Driven Routing

Numerous functionalities in Workflows can be carried out dynamically. Therefore, steps with access to automation have a built-in SemQL editor, through which designers access Workflow metadata, functions, and variables.

Benefit: Orchestrating xDM Workflows using underlying metadata provides designers with an augmented platform and greater capacity to handle increasing volumes, and complexity, of data. Leveraging metadata provides better flexibility to conform the business needs and data infrastructure to evolving organizational goals.

Parallel Blocks

Create concurrent workflows that can be performed simultaneously without depending on a previous task to complete. Parallel blocks may contain any combination of user tasks, routes and automations.

Benefit: Parallel workflows increase the efficiency of data management processes and reduce bottlenecks for complex records that involve multiple interactions from various business units or systems.

Parallel Blocks
My Tasks

My Tasks

My Tasks replaces the Inbox, bringing all the tasks assigned to the user in one place and easily accessible. The modernized view provides a simple, intuitive grouping of all tasks in a hierarchy tree with rich views that shows workflow details, user activity and history.

Benefit: Quickly access and understand all tasks assigned to the user in one spot, while easily tracking the data and metadata (such as status, current step and assignees) of workflows initiated by the user.

  • Timestamp-Based Data Notifications

Timestamp-Based Data Notifications are variables related to when changes to data have occurred. Filter data and create queries based on timestamps for data notification triggers, and high/low batch data submissions.

Best For: Timestamp-Based Data notifications allow users to provide reports of data that were modified at specific time points.

  • Record Type-Specific Retention

Apply rules regarding how long records remain in the data hub based on their type. Administer data retention parameters depending on the record type such as retention period, time duration and time unit properties.

Best For: Record Type-Specific Retention augments the capacity of designers to automatically control how long data are kept available, aligning with the organization’s data governance plan.
